The Back of the Yards Neighborhood is one of our favorite places to visit on a Sunday morning. We start at Back of the Yards Coffeehouse followed by a trip to The Plant for the farmers market and pizza.
Back of the Yards Coffeehouse
We love starting our mornings at the Back of the Yards Coffeehouse. They make their own coffee, have a beautiful patio, succulents hanging on the wall, and a compost program. They are a small female and Latinx owned business. Make sure to add this gem to your coffee shop bucket list.
Little Free Library
The Little Free Library located outside of the coffeeshop just might be out favorite one. It is beautifully made to match the coffeehouse. We love leaving and taking books from the little free libraries across the city, and we love that this one is right outside of a coffee shop.
Murals
As you drive from the coffeehouse to The Plant, make sure you enjoy the beautiful art drive down 47th street.
The Plant
The Plant is a closed-loop facility that is a research and collaboration site that prides itself on providing food for the community. The Plant has a farmers market every Sunday called Vegan Paradise. You can get fresh produce and prepare food. The market is outside with a beautiful mural on the brick wall. The indoor store is also open on Sundays.

New Magnolia Garden Center at The Plant
There is a brand new garden at The Plant, Magnolia Garden Center. The garden is open regularly and during the Vegan Paradise. Make sure you leave with a plant and fresh microgreens. We love the story and owner of the garden.
Whiner Beer Co.
After you finish the farmers market, make sure you go inside The Plant and enjoy a brick oven pizza and beer in the tap room at Whiner Beer Co. The environment of this tap room is every nature-lovers dream. The customer service is top notch and the food is even better. We love the specialty salsa.
Love Fridge
When you leave The Plant, you can donate or visit to the Love Fridge located outside of the building.
