Why We Love The Plant in the Back-of-the-Yards Neighborhood

Plant Chicago in the Back of the Yards community must be on your list of the next place to visit. If you are a nature lover, environmentalist, pizza fan, or a vegetarian, you will absolutely love this place. This blog post tells you exactly why you need to visit The Plant in Chicago.

1. The New Magnolia Garden

There is a wonderful garden space for visitors to browse and purchase. The New Magnolia Garden Center gives you all the HGTV vibes. It is picture perfect. And the garden staff is so patient and kind. There are plants, flowers, and even microgreens available to purchase. We highly suggest leaving with a few bags of microgreens.

2. The outdoor Tea Café

Right next to the New Magnolia Garden is a tea café. Pick your flavor and herb and enjoy a wonderful cup of tea in the middle of the garden. It is perfect for a solo-morning or a Saturday morning date.

3. The Vegan Paradise Farmers Market

Chicago’s first (and only) vegan farmers market takes place on Sundays during the summer outside at The Plant. The farmer’s market has a variety of produce, crafts, and meals. This is our go to market for vegetables in the summer months.

4. The Brewery: Whiner Beer Co.

This brewery might have the best atmosphere in the entire city. If you love brick walls, wooden tables, and plants, this is the brewery for you. Whiner Beer Co. has delicious brick oven pizza and our personal favorite was the seasonal salsa in early summer. The bartenders are wonderful and knowledgeable. They have weekly brewery tours and beers to-go!

5. Love Fridge on site

For those of you who have fallen in love with the mission of The Love Fridge, make sure to bring your donations to the Love Fridge located at The Plant.

6. The Turtle Stop

This is the perfect spot for all your gift giving needs. They have a variety of times such as t-shirts, cosmetics, cleaning supplies, tea, drinks, and food. We know you will find something for everyone at The Turtle Stop located inside The Plant, especially the nature and environmentally friendly folks in your life.

7. Salad Club

Meal delivery service has become increasingly popular, however the eco-footprint on those services is extremely large. The Plant has created a Salad Club that is much more environmentally conscious. They collected, sanitize, and reuse the box they deliver the greens in. They also deliver themselves to avoid all that excess cardboard. We get the microgreens delivered biweekly and love delivery day. Check out the Salad Club and join everyone else using this service.

Convinced yet? We hope so!

We hope you head to Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood and visit The Plant this weekend and take advantage of this environmentally-conscious and community-based business model.
