Perfect Saturday Morning: 7 places you must visit in the Printer’s Row neighborhood

Looking for a perfect Saturday morning in Chicago? We suggest visiting Printer’s Row to visit the Printer’s Row Farmers Market followed by visiting a few local businesses. Printer’s Row has a coffee shop, book store, wine shop, and grocery store that are local businesses in beautiful buildings. Parking is limited and expensive in Printer’s Row, so we recommend walking or taking public transportation.

Printer’s Row Farmer’s Market

The first stop on your morning trip needs to be the Printer’s Row Farmer’s Market. We suggest the microgreens from Jacobson Family Farms, the tamales from Yvolina’s Tamales, broccoli from Star Farm and the cherries from Los Rodriguez Farm.

Sandmeyer’s Bookstore

After visiting the farmer’s market, stop by Sandmeyer’s Bookstore. We love a good book store, and this one hits all the criteria.

The building is old and beautiful. Look at the wood floors, exposed ceiling, and the brick wall. You could hang out in here all day because of the architecture alone.

Sandmeyer’s owners do a wonderful job having a variety of books. They make sure their bookselves are diverse and include Chicago authors. They even take suggestions on new books to order for the store.

Some books stores in Chicago do not have a children’s section, but Sandmeyer’s has a wonderful children, middle grades, and young adult section. We highly recommend shopping here for gifts for the young readers in your life.

Grail Cafe

Next stop on your Saturday morning: Grail Cafe for a coffee to go. Fern’s drink of choice is a black coffee or iced vanilla latte.

Grail Cafe has a full food menu and tables and a bar. On Saturday’s the tables are pretty full because of the farmer’s market. If you’re okay on time, it is worth waiting for a table.

We love the décor in the Grail Cafe. It is a perfect combination of vintage and modern. Be sure to check out the ceiling and light fixtures.

The door entering into Grail Cafe says “Black owned, Veteran Owned, Gay Owned, Community Supported.” We love supporting local business, and Grail is no exception.

Printer’s Row Wine Shop

Next up: Printer’s Row Wine Shop

Olive loves visiting local wine shops. Fern loves a good cider. We recommend stopping inside for a glass of of wine at the bar. Or taking home a bottle for yourself or a gift for a friend. Shop local!

Totto’s Market

Make sure you stop in Totto’s Market to grab something to eat or a bunch of flowers to bring home.

Totto’s Market is locally owned and is named after the owner’s father. The food is carefully chosen and support local vendors. We love the fresh bake goods and fresh produce.

Dearborn Park

The last but most important part of your day, enjoying a book and coffee in the local park. We suggest Dearborn Park because of the tables and benches. The park has shaded spots along with some sunny spots. You will see a variety or people and dogs in this park. It is hidden in the neighborhood and only a few blocks south of the farmer’s market.
