Printer’s Row Hidden Gems – Book Store, Wine Shop & Coffee Shop

Printer’s Row is one of my favorite places in Chicago – it has my favorite coffee shop, wine shop and bookstore. In the warmer months it also has a weekend farmer’s market! What else do you need?

Itinerary – for a weekend morning coffee shop escape

Parking

It’s not the closest walk for me, but I enjoy a weekend morning with my boyfriend and dog so this is usually a fun one.

It’s also perfect for a solo morning as well because there are so many places to stop into within a block of each other.

As I mentioned above, there is also Park Chicago available and I’ve never had an issue finding a spot. It is parallel parking – my least favorite kind!

Sandmeyer’s Bookstore

With COVID-19 precautions in place, there is no food or drink allowed in the bookstore (this might actually be a rule all the time?). Since there is no drinks allowed, I usually stop here first!

Sandmeyer’s Bookstore is a family-owned independent bookstore and it’s amazing.

They have a Chicago section, new releases, children’s area, sales and more. I also loved the exposed brick and large window providing so much natural light – great storefront!

The Grail Cafe

After I scope out the shelves, I cross the street to grab some fuel at The Grail Cafe!

This coffee shop is a Black owned business and is absolutely amazing. I love the ambiance and the décor and will definitely be doing some work from home days in this shop in the future.

I usually get a small black drip coffee, but have also tried their iced chai tea latter and loved. I’ve personally had Toast & Jams from their food menu and cannot wait to try the Farro Risotto.

Printer’s Row

I’ve only ever visited the Grail Cafe during COVID-19 times, so I did a quick grab and go from the restaurant.

It’s perfect that there is a park, Printer’s Row Park, directly across the street (next to Sandmeyer’s Bookstore) that’s so convenient for a mid morning picnic.

I usually pack a book (or have the one I just bought from the bookstore) and enjoy my coffee and a few pages.

Printer’s Row Wine Shop

After relaxing in the park with a coffee and a book, make sure you stop by the Printer’s Row Wine Shop and take a bottle home or stay and enjoy a glass.

Farmer’s Market

Be sure to check out the Printer’s Row Farmers Market. It is small but perfect. The Printer Row Farmers Market is located in the beautiful park the on Saturdays from 9am-1pm.

  1. Having never been to Chicago, it’s really nice to get into the neighbourhoods on your site. I’m liking the sound and look of this one, especially the farmers market!
