Visiting central Illinois? Or maybe visiting Illinois State University or Illinois Weslyan? Make sure you stop and visit Downtown Normal. We love the downtown area because of all the shops, restaurants, and artwork. We have compiled a list of 5 of the best restaurants! Be sure to let us know which one you decided to try.
1. Medici
We love the atmosphere and the food at Medici. It has a tree in the middle of the restaurant! And all the furniture is made out of wood. This is a great place for dinner but also a great location for drink. There is a weekly drink special every night. Be sure to stop by Medici next time you are in Normal. You won’t be disapointed!
2. The Rock Restaurant
Next up! The Rock Restaurant is one of our favorites. The gyros are delicious! This is the go to place for the college students because it is delicious and affordable. The best part, this is a family owned restaurant. We love supporting local businesses.
3. Windy City Wieners
Fan of hot dogs and italian beef? Windy City Wieners is your kinda place. We are from Chicago and are pretty particular about our hot dogs and this place never disappoints. Next time you are in the Bloomington-Normal area, you need to make sure to stop in for a delicious hotdog! Don’t forget the fries.
4. The Coffeehouse
This is the go-to coffee shop in town. The Coffeehouse is a staple in the community. It is nothing fancy, which makes it perfect. This is the place to go if you are a vegetairan or love a delicious, healthy meal. Plus, the coffee is sourced from all over the world. We love going here and writing blog posts or read a book.
5. Maggie Miley’s Pub
Looking for a fun place to eat and enjoy a drink? Maggie Miley’s is one of the best Irish pubs in the US. They are open everyday of the week, and open super late on the weekends. Just take a look at this menu, you’ll want to order everything.
Will have to try these coffee shops soon!
I went to grad school at ISU. I’ve spent many hours eating and studying at The Coffeehouse and I’ve been to Medici a couple of times. Do they still have rooftop dining? That was fun.
What a cute and artsy community. Would love to travel to this part of Illinois!
