1. Lake Elizabeth Nature Preserve
Address: 11000 Lakeview Rd, Richmond, IL 60071
Rose: Beautiful lookout with benches to relax, enjoy the scenery, or read a book
Thorn: The park is full of bees doing their thing and pollinating, which is very important to us. However, if you have young children or dogs, be vigilant of the bees along the trail.

2. New Munster Wildlife Area
Address: 344th Ave, Burlington, WI 53105
Rose: Almost always empty–perfect for a dog who prefers to be alone
Thorn: Be careful during hunting season

3. Kenosha County Veteran’s Memorial Park
Address: 8697 Co Hwy KD, Burlington, WI 53105
Rose: Many different trails gives you a different hike every time you visit this park
Thorn: Not all of the trails connect, and there are two different parking lots on the far ends of the park

4. Ice House Trail
Address: 100 N Lake Ave, Twin Lakes, WI 53181
Rose: The trail starts/ends near our favorite coffee shops, Cup of Joe, that happens to also be a Friends (TV show) themed coffee shop.
Thorn: Can get pretty crowded near the Twin Lakes end of the trail, not ideal for dogs who are dog or people reactive

5. Seno K/RLT Conservancy
Address: 3606 Dyer Lake Road, Burlington, WI 53105
Rose: Never crowded so it is a perfect spot for a hike with your dog
Thorn: No garbage cans on the trail for poop bags

6. Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy
Address: 251 Elkhorn Rd, Williams Bay, WI 53191
Rose: 3 parking lots with 3 access points to the trails
Thorn: Since it is a conservancy area, some of the trails might be under construction when you visit

Rose: Variety of ecosystems. You will hike through sunny spots, shaded forests, and along the river.
Thorn: A few hills that may be difficult for some hikers

8. Four Seasons Nature Preserve
Address: N1889 Co Trunk H, Lake Geneva, WI 53147
Rose: Multiple shelters to have a picnic lunch
Thorn: The dog area is wonderful, but it is not fenced in. Not ideal for puppies or runners.

9. Big Foot Beach State Park

Rose: Beautiful hike in all seasons, but especially in the winter
