We are just over joyed when businesses support the environment, Woodstock Public Library did just this with their pop-up seed library!
Olive is a lover of books and Fern is a lover of plants. This is the perfect combination for us here at a nature escape.
The library is providing seeds for produce such as corn, peppers, radishes, peas and tomatoes. Such an awesome way to promote sustainable food by eliminating the transportation of the produce to the grocery stores. This is very important to Fern.
Olive just loves that the seeds are distributed using an old card catalog cabinet. A perfect way to keep obsolete furniture out of the landfills.
“Seeds can be ‘returned’ to the library in the form of produce donations for our food pantry or as seeds for next year planting.”
There is a food pantry on the exterior of the Woodstock Public Library. Residents are encouraged to take some seeds, plant them in their home garden, and then return them as (1) food for the public pantry OR (2) as seeds the following year.
This is what community looks like.
Here at a nature escape, we hope that every community library follows Woodstock’s lead.
I would love to go to the public library. It seems amazing.
